SPANA (the Society for the Protection of Animals Abroad) is a leading charity for working animals worldwide and the communities they support. We know that working animals are essential to the health and economic wellbeing of millions of vulnerable families across the developing world. But often these hardworking animals lack access to even basic care: that’s where we come in.

We’re passionate about protecting and caring for working animals, with a network of hospitals and mobile clinics that provide a lifeline for animals and communities alike. Our outreach programmes support small-scale projects across the world, working in partnership with local organisations to develop effective, sustainable, community-based projects. And our emergency programme ensures we can get rapid, life-saving help to regions blighted by conflict and disaster. But we don’t stop there. We’re determined that the future will be better for working animals. We work to educate and train children, owners and veterinary professionals across the world.

We’ve been dedicated to caring for animals and protecting livelihoods since 1923. But we rely on the support of individuals and organisations that share our vision.

• £5 provides one week of nutritious food for a donkey.
• £9 buys a set of sterile bandages for an injured animal.
• £19 gives a hard-working animal the chance to rest and recover in our warm, comfy stables for a whole week.
• £30 buys reading materials for a school class that teaches them how to respect and care for animals.
• £55 covers the cost of medical supplies and equipment for a SPANA mobile clinic, helping our vets treat hundreds of working animals in remote communities.
• £120 gives vital medicines and pain relief for a donkey during the first two weeks of recover after a major injury.
