The Blue Cross

The Blue Cross is dedicated to improving the lives of sick and unwanted pets. It takes in and finds loving new homes for thousands of homeless animals every year and treats many more whose owners can’t afford private vet fees.

The Blue Cross has been caring for animals since 1897 and is one of the UK’s leading pet charities. Today it helps them in lots of different ways:

Its network of adoption centres and pet fosterers take in unwanted horses, dogs, cats and other small pets (like rabbits and guinea pigs). It cares for the animals, rehabilitating them where needed, before finding them new homes.

Treating an unwell or injured pet can be expensive and The Blue Cross animal hospitals, mobile and animal welfare clinics help pets whose owners can’t afford private veterinary fees.

The charity promotes responsible pet ownership through its extensive range of free pet care advice factsheets and the work of its education team, which visits schools and youth groups to teach them about good animal care.

The Blue Cross receives no government funding so it relies on donations from the public to continue its vital work.  For more information or to make a donation, please visit www.bluecross.org.uk.
